Our #WCW for this week is non-other than the gorgeous Melissa Ndlovu.

Melissa describes herself as a morning person, outgoing, generous, a dreamer, and a doer. She believes that getting her hands dirty in any process or endeavor she takes on is important.

"Hierarchy is not my thing, I believe that for one to appreciate the end results, one needs to break a sweat."

Passionate about using storytelling and content as a means to educate, inspire and stamp out social inequalities, Melissa believes that living in a digitized world has changed a lot of things including the fact that, stories convey the culture, history and values that unite people.

Being a career woman, mom of two little ones, wife and part-time student, Melissa always tries to give 100% to all the facets of her life although in the past when she did fall short, she would be really extremely hard on herself.

But while recording a podcast last year, one of the experts on the panel said, "You don't need to be good at everything, you just need to be good enough". Those words stuck with her and, now, she takes things in her stride, reminds herself I'm a 'good enough' mom, wife, colleague and student. And that's more than ok!

When asking her about forgiveness she describes it as the door to clarity, contentment and peace. Melissa has learned that holding on to grudges and dwelling on past mistakes will only stand in the way of one’s victory or the next best thing.

" Don't hold yourself back."

Accountability is of utmost importance for Melissa, she's never been afraid to stand her ground, acknowledge her faults and own up to them. She feels as though it’s unfortunate that a lot of spaces aren’t being created within our workplaces and communities where people feel safe enough to speak up and be held accountable for their actions.

"As a society, we've been conditioned to think that making a mistake will lead to punishment or confrontation when what we actually need to focus on is mentorship and guidance."

Melissa is able to acknowledge how hard it is to forgive – whether it's forgiving yourself or someone else but strongly believes that forgiveness is a key part of emotional and spiritual evolution. Her advice to women is to work through the hurt, feel it, live in it a little. And then, let it go.

"When you allow yourself to sit in that vulnerable state, you're slowly peeling away layers of your former self and then making room for new, and improved you."
